General Information about Scholarships for Studies in Turkey

TEV gives scholarships to successful students that are devoted to the principles and reforms of Atatürk, but lack financial support. All over Turkey, students who study at Technical and Industrial Vocational Schools, Vocational High Schools, High Schools, Universities, Master's and Doctorate Programs can benefit from scholarships. Scholars are chosen by a committee, which is created by their own educational institution that includes one representative from TEV.

In its foundation year, 119 students had benefited from TEV's scholarship program. Since then the number has reached to a total of 223.600 students. Students who want to benefit from our scholarships should fill out the application form online and print it from the web site between September 20th – October 20th and submit all required documents to their educational institution. In addition to the scholars selected by educational institutions, TEV give scholarships to those who are disabled or stay in orphanage but are eligible for a higher education or to the ones whose families have been affected by natural disasters.

Turkish Educational Foundation has given scholarships to 4041 students affected by the earthquake in Marmara in 1999, to 1000 students after the Afyon earthquake in 2002 and to 100 students after the earthquake in Bingöl in 2003. Recently, in order to support their education scholarships were assigned to 400 students who were victims of the earthquake which took place on October 23rd, 2011 in Van.

Successful students continue to receive their scholarships throughout their education under the provision of TEV's scholarship regulations.

Each year success reports for each scholarship student are directly obtained from educational institutions. If the student has a successful performance TEV's scholarship will be continued until the end of the education. However, if unsatisfactory results are achieved or it has been determined that the student receives scholarships from other institutions or the student doesn't meet the criteria of TEV Scholarships any longer, the scholarship will be ended.

Along with the scholarship, in order to encourage our scholars, TEV is also giving an ‘Outstanding Success Scholarship' to those who achieve outstanding results as stated in TEV's regulations for domestic sponsorships and awards.

Scholarships are paid between October and June (9months); increases are carried out every year in October.

Monthly Scholarship Payments 2013-2014 Academic Year (October-June)
Vocational High School Students 150.-TL
University Students 400.-TL
Master's Students 700.-TL
Doctorate Students 1.000.-TL

TEV's scholarships for studies in Turkey are complimentary but, as a general rule, scholars agree to pay back after graduation when their career begins the amount paid by TEV for their scholarship, or accept to provide a scholarship to another student via TEV or, as a last option, identify someone else who is going to make donations to TEV. Because this is considered as an obligation of conscience, each scholar signs a document of conscious responsibility.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES:

In addition to providing financial support to scholarship holders, TEV organizes various activities to help them to develop socially. Therefore, TEV

  • provides free English lessons*,
  • finds internship opportunities,
  • organizes series of meetings and invites professionals and experts who give guidance and counseling services to scholars,
  • arranges technical site visits,
  • organizes motivational and cultural tours,
  • provides free invitations for cinemas, theatres, concerts and fairs
  • plans tree-planting campaigns

(*) Our English courses are held at the Turkish-American University Association and all our scholars benefit from this course for free. Scholars can attend at these courses 2-3 days a week. However, in case of strong demand, weekend courses are also offered. Only scholars whose education still persists can benefit from these courses. Students are classified into levels based on their placement test results. Those who want to attend at these courses should apply to the Directorate of Education at TEV's General Directorate.

Scholarships for Outstanding Success
